Oh Hi: Matchsticks
Minute MAPP is MAPP_MTL's one-minute mapping night in Montreal. The 2025 edition, held at Monument Factory during the festival, set an unusual challenge: a white square as the projection canvas, with a laser running as a second layer on top of the video. This was my first time performing with a laser, and I loved it. The piece is a one-minute visual set to Matchsticks by Oh Hi, Charles Higsons' band. He always makes great music, and this track carried the whole minute. Performed on September 26, 2025. It was my second year at Minute MAPP, after Minespective took the public-vote first prize at the 2024 edition.

The performance
Top: the piece as it played in the room. The small frame below it is the digital feed, the projected video and the laser layer on their own.
Process
Four quadrants, the same minute four ways: the laser layer, the TouchDesigner patch, the video and photo pass, and the final compilation.
